Join CDFA this March 5th in Washington, DC for a first of its kind symposium that will explore the growing sustainable public finance industry. The nation has embraced green-principled and energy-focused economic development, and the public finance industry is gearing up for this monumental shift in policy and practice throughout the country. As part of CDFA’s commitment to developing the new Sustainable Public Finance Coalition, registration for this event is complimentary.

This symposium will explore three key areas of finance for sustainable projects: energy, green and infrastructure. Industry leaders will cover the latest developments at the federal and state level as they relate to the availability of financing and the growth of new and innovative tools for these projects.

This entire discussion will culminate with a group town hall focused on developing CDFA’s new Sustainable Public Finance Coalition, a special working group dedicated to developing this core body of knowledge and leadership for the development finance industry.

PROGRAM

8:00 am Continental Breakfast & Registration

8:15 am Sustainable Public Finance: A Growing Industry

The spotlight on sustainable development has never been more important and in-focus in our country's history. During this opening session CDFA and industry leaders will explore the growing green, renewable energy and infrastructure finance industry and the need for a unified voice in ensuring this continue growth and success.

9:00 am Energy Finance

As the nation embraces an energy independent future, the need to understand how to finance these important industries has grown. Over the past year, state and federal focus has shifted significantly to build resources and financing capacity for renewable energy projects. Today, a diverse landscape of financing options and opportunities exists. During this session CDFA will explore the renewable energy finance industry and the tools available for supporting an energy independent future.

11:00 am Green Finance

The green development trend has spread nationwide and is being embraced by the planning, development, smart growth and transportation industries. The financing tools used to support green development, however, are still in the early stages of development and utilization. Green underwriting standards and historic and new markets tax credits are paving the way for supporting green development. During this session CDFA will examine the tools helping to turn our cities into sustainable green communities.

1:30 pm Infrastructure Finance

Infrastructure finance remains one of the most challenging issues for state and local governments. Progress, however, is being made in these areas and during this session CDFA will explore the trends and best practices in infrastructure finance fueled by sustainable practices and smart growth principles.
