About the CDFA Tax Increment Finance Coalition
OVERVIEW
CDFA has taken the lead nationally to bring the tax increment finance industry together through the creation of the Tax Increment Finance Coalition (TIFC). The TIFC is a standing coalition within CDFA dedicated to professionals and organizations working in the tax increment finance industry.
Tax increment financing is one of the most widely used forms of development finance today. Forty-nine states have enabling legislation for TIF (also known as TAD, TIRZ, DIF, etc.) and new projects are taking shape all the time. In developing the TIFC, CDFA becomes the first national organization to address tax increment financing head on.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide a national forum for tax increment finance users, service providers and industry experts to share ideas, knowledge and best practices in the industry.
- To create one singular clearinghouse of resources, publications, research, documentation, state statutes, etc. for finance professionals and economic developers to explore and learn about tax increment finance.
- To educate users, service providers and others on the application of tax increment finance in their community through training, best practices, technical assistance and mentoring.
- To give the tax increment finance industry a national voice for representing and advocating for the sound use of this important economic development tool.
