9:15 - 9:50 amCrowdfunding Takes Shape in Oregon

While only 5% of all crowdfunding nationally is equity-based, new Oregon rules have made securities crowdfunding investments easier for the entrepreneur and more attainable for investors. It is quickly becoming a new tool to stimulate communities and raise more money faster from a larger audience. Join panelists in this session for a discussion about the latest in crowdfunding efforts, including the strengths and challenges that exist, and whether development financing agencies have a role to play.

The discussion will continue on a tour of development projects that are driving the economy in Oregon coordinated by the Portland Development Commission (PDC). Attendees will visit the Broadway Corridor using the Portland light rail, locally called MAX. This area was identified in the City of Portland’s Central City 2035 West Quadrant Plan as a key opportunity site for high-density employment and signature city attractions, connecting the Old Town/Chinatown and Pearl District neighborhoods. The Broadway Corridor has an area of approximately 24 acres and includes Union Station – Portland’s most multi-modal transportation hub. Historic Union Station is an active Amtrak passenger rail terminal, and PDC aims to further activate the station as a gateway to the city and surrounding neighborhood. During this exciting tour, you will visit the a newly renovated Post Office Building obtained from the federal government and converted into an expansion for the 116 year-old Pacific Northwest College of Art walk around the corridor and hear from PDC staff and their area partner PNCA about completed catalytic projects and the framework for further redevelopment.

Airport way to I-205 S. Go 3 miles to I-84 West. Go 6 miles and take the Portland exit. Follow City Center signs, stay in right lane and go over the Morrison Bridge. Turn right at the first light onto 2nd Avenue. Go 4 blocks to Ash Street and turn left. Go 1 block to 3rd and turn left. Go 1 block to Pine and turn right. The hotel entrance will be on the right-hand side.

From the North:
I-5 South to exit 302A (Rose Quarter). Follow City Center signs over the Broadway Bridge. Stay in the left lane, this will put you onto Broadway. Go 8 blocks to Burnside and turn left. Go 4 blocks to 3rd and turn right. Go 2 blocks to Pine and turn right. The hotel is on the right hand side.

From the South:

I-5 North. Stay in the Center lane when approaching the City, and take the Exit 1A Naito Parkway. Turn right onto Naito Parkway. Go 13 blocks to Pine Street. Turn left onto Pine Street. Go up 3 blocks and the Hotel Entrance will be on your right hand side.

From the East:

I-84 West. Follow the City Center signs over the Morrison Bridge. Turn right at the first stop light onto 2nd Avenue. Go 4 blocks to Ash Street and turn left. Go 1 block and turn left. Go 1 block to pine and turn right. The hotel entrance will be on the right hand side.

From the West:
Hwy 26 East. Follow Market Street signs (center land). Take Market Street all the way to 2nd. Turn left onto 2nd. Go approximately 14 blocks to Ash Street and turn left. Go 1 block to 3rd and turn left. Go 1 block to Pine and turn right. The hotel entrance will be on the right hand side.


Self parking is is located on 4th Avenue, between Oak and Pine Street for $5 with event voucher.
