Rural hospitals are closing and patients are driving an hour or more for care, but one developer is betting a surgical institute in Chillicothe, Ohio can reverse that math. Experts from Opportunity Zone Development Group break down the full capital stack behind the deal, layering OZ equity with EB-5, New Market Tax Credits, and Ohio's 10% OZ tax credit. Three Corridor-area startups are among the recipients of a new round of funding approved by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). The awards included assistance for a Coralville medical device company and two Cedar Rapids businesses. Separately, IEDA approved State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) funding this month for three startups, including the two Cedar Rapids companies, to support their continued growth.
Maryland Exceeds $1B in Affordable Housing Investments
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has recently awarded low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs), bond financing, and other financing with an estimated value of more than $1 billion to create or preserve 3,025 affordable homes. New Treasury Data Emphasize Why OZ Designations Matter
Just in time to inform governors' work nominating the next round of Opportunity Zone (OZ) census tracts this summer, the Treasury Department has released new data reporting that federal OZ tax incentives drove more than $112 billion worth of investment capital into more than 6,000 communities through the end of 2024.
