TNECD Announces Asset Enhancement Grant Recipients
Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development announced today that 20 communities will receive Asset Enhancement Grants. The grants help distressed counties take steps to improve unemployment rates, per capita income, poverty rates and other economic measures.

Upscale Restaurant Seeking TIF Funding For Move in East TN
A restaurant found throughout East Tennessee may open a Greeneville location in spring 2018. The Industrial Development Board of Greeneville and Greene County have already approved the proposed 10-year, $200,000 TIF and the site's economic development plan.

$9K Tech Grant to Fund New Library Programs in Spring Hill, TN
Spring Hill Public Library this week received one of the largest amounts of grant money awarded by the state to a public library, which will help fund new tech programs for its members.

TN Tool and Fixture to Locate First US Operations in Manchester
Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe along with Tennessee Tool and Fixture officials announced today the company will locate its first U.S. operations in Manchester. The automotive mold and casting manufacturer will invest $6.5 million in the new facility and create 60 new jobs in Coffee County.

TVA Cutting Budget and Slimming Debt
TVA has cut its staff by more than 2,000 employees over the past three years, reducing its current staff to about 10,300 employees as part of a three-year budget-cutting plan to reduce annual operating expenses by more than $600 million.

Incentives Helping Electric Cars Compete in TN
Polls show that Tennesseans are among the least worried nationwide about global warming, yet they support one of America's healthiest electric car markets. This market is currently being held afloat by federal and state subsidies which may be in danger of being terminated.

Tax Credits Helping Expansion of Broadband Internet Across TN
The Tennessee Broadband Accessibility Act permits Tennessee's private, nonprofit public utilities to provide retail broadband service. The legislation also provides $45 million over three years in grants and tax credits for service providers to assist in making broadband available to homes and businesses in areas where broadband internet is not available.

TNECD Launches Online Platform Tracking Economic Performance Measures
The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) has launched a new online platform that provides the public with current information measuring TNECD's strategic objectives. These new dashboards enable Tennesseans to get an exhaustive look at the key economic measures and goals that drive TNECD's long-term strategic plan.

Complete three courses, and you will have fulfilled half of the requirements for the DFCP Program.
