Inside Treasury's $112B Opportunity Zone Report
Treasury's new working paper puts a hard number on the first seven years of Opportunity Zones: $112 billion of Opportunity Zone investments through the end of 2024, reaching more than 6,000 census tracts. Economic Innovation Group representatives unpack the data, including the finding that rural Opportunity Zones matched urban ones in reach at 77 percent, even as rural deals came in far smaller.

Michigan Enacts Housing Opportunity Tax Credit Program
Michigan has enacted legislation that amends the State Housing Development Authority Act of 1966 to create the "Housing Opportunity Tax Credit" program. The program, administered by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), provides a nonrefundable tax credit against the state's personal and corporate income taxes, as well as the insurance premiums tax, for the development of qualified low-income housing projects.

NJHMFA Sells $40M in Tax Credits to Fund Housing Production
The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency sold $40 million in tax credits to fund affordable and workforce housing development. According to NJHMFA, the State Tax Credit Subsidy Program is the first of its scale offered by any state. The agency says the expansion of available supply in New Jersey will increase its ability to respond to the housing affordability crisis.
