WA Announces Clean Energy Fund Grid Modernization Grants
Gov. Jay Inslee announced $12.6 million in Clean Energy Fund grants to five utilities in Washington. The grants will fund projects proposed by Avista, Seattle City Light, Orcas Power and Light, Snohomish County Public Utility District and Energy Northwest.

CERB Invests $2.3M to Grow Local Economies
The Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) approved $2,353,500 for public infrastructure development and economic feasibilities studies targeting business growth and job creation.

Tieton WA Receives $23K for an Economic Development Plan
The city of Tieton is receiving $23,462 in grant money for an economic development plan. The money is part of the Washington State Department of Commerce's 2016 Community Development Blocks Grant (CDBG).

King County WA Refinances Bonds to Save $104M
King County sold $500 million of sewer revenue bonds. The transaction raised $50 million of new funding for its capital program at a 3.8 percent interest rate, and also refinanced outstanding bonds to reduce future debt service costs.

$10M in Federal Development Grants Awarded to 22 Rural WA Communities
The Washington State Department of Commerce announced that 22 cities and counties will receive a total of more than $10 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) for 2016. The 22 projects were selected from 28 grant applications requesting over $14 million. 

$5M in WA State Loans Available for Freight Rail Projects
Public-sector agencies such as port districts and local governments have another chance to apply for a portion of $5 million in Freight Rail Investment Bank (FRIB) loans approved by the Legislature.

U.S Army Awards $2.6M Contract for Lamprey Passage Improvements
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a contract worth $2.6 million to Northbank Civil and Marine Inc. to construct a lamprey passage system at the 1,242-MW Bonneville hydropower plant.

WA Invests $300K to Help Bring New $300M Silicon Smelter
Edmonton-based HiTest Sand Inc. proposes to invest $300 million in a new state-of-the-art silicon refining facility, creating an estimated 400 construction jobs and 170 permanent full-time jobs.
