Frederick County Small-Business Tax Credit Bill Amended
An amendment cleaning up the bill's language, and clarifying that a business subject to tax-increment financing wouldn't be eligible for the credit, passed the Frederick County Council 5-1 on Tuesday.

Governor Hogan announces 2017 Maryland Jobs Initiative
Gov. Larry Hogan has unveiled the 2017 Maryland Jobs Initiative, a comprehensive legislative package aimed at providing incentives for the creation of thousands of jobs and $5 million in strategic investments in education and workforce training to put even more Marylanders back to work.

MD's $62M Incentive Package Tailor-Made for Marriott
The $62 million incentive package Gov. Larry Hogan and Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett promised Marriott for building a new headquarters in Bethesda was tailor-made for the firm, down to the definition of who counts as an employee.

Harford County is close to finalizing its part of a $550,000 incentive package for a broad line food and paper products distribution company that expanded its Maryland operations to a site south of Aberdeen.

MD Awards Tax Credits to Hagerstown Project
A downtown Hagerstown project is among eight recent recipients of state tax credits. According to a news release from the Maryland Historical Trust, $190,560 in tax credits was awarded to a project that will renovate the Ramacciotti/Professional Arts Building on the Public Square in downtown Hagerstown.

Hogan Unveils $65M Environmental Agenda Including Tax Incentives
Gov. Larry Hogan announced his environmental agenda for the coming legislative session, proposing Maryland spend nearly $65 million over the next three years on tax incentives, job training and a "Green Energy Institute" at the University of Maryland.
