The Marshall EDA is seeking an exception from the Marshall City Council to loosen their revolving loan fund requirements. EDA officials argue that stringent requirements on who can receive RLF dollars makes it a challenge to use the fund.

A new Save-A-Lot will provide access to fresh foods for many in one of Oklahoma City's food deserts and is being supported by a tax increment finance district. Honor Capital, a veteran-owned small business that aims to eliminate food deserts across the country, initiated the deal.
Beckley Common Council Abuzz with Building Plans
Council approved a resolution request the Beckley Building Commission to authorize the issuance of tax exempt lease revenue bonds of up to $5 million for construction of a new fire station in Beckley.
State PAB Volume Caps Boosted 5.2%
States can issue up to $37.55 billion in new tax-exempt private activity bonds in 2018, 5.2% more than last year, after these bonds barely escaped termination in the recently enacted tax overhaul legislation.

Minnesota DEED Awards $5.57 Million in Cleanup Funding
Grants totaling $5.57 million were awarded by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to clean up or investigate contamination at 13 sites in Minnesota. The funding will result in redevelopment projects that create or retain 890 jobs and increase the local tax base by $5.17 million.

California Update: Deadline Nearing to Apply for $100M of TCs
The California Governor's Office of Economic Development (GO-Biz) has begun taking applications for the second round of the FY 2017-2018 California Competes Tax Credit program ("Cal Competes"). The application window is just three weeks, with the deadline to apply on Monday, January 22, 2018.

Winter Storm Surge Boosts Call for $10B Boston Seawall
Freezing floodwaters that engulfed downtown Boston prompted Mayor Martin Walsh to call for resilience measures including a seawall along Boston Harbor. In September, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority issued tax-exempt sustainability bonds as part of a $574 million competitive sale.
West Virginia. Parkways Authority Plans Bonds, with Toll Fees to be Determined
A first round of Parkways Authority bonds — $120 million to $125 million of the $500 million of total bonds authorized — will be ready to go to market in late April or early May, West Virginia Parkways General Manager Greg Barr said.
Payment Pressures Drive Bond Exchange Offer for Iowa Fertilizer Project
The Iowa Fertilizer Co. LLC is seeking a tender exchange for up to $435 million of bonds from two maturities in its nearly $1.2 billion 2013 issue that funded construction of its nitrogen fertilizer production plant. The exchange would ease near-term payment pressures.
