CDFA Announces Winner of 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award
The recipient of the 2014 CDFA Lifetime Achievement Award is Rick Palank, Senior Vice President of Business Finance, St. Louis Economic Development Partnership. As Senior V.P. of Business Finance, Rick Palank is an original employee of St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, working for the organization for more than 30 years. He oversees the staff of the Business Finance Division, which offers financing products and programs designed to meet the funding needs for growing small businesses. Rick Palank serves on the Board of Directors for the Council of Development Finance Agencies and previously served as Chairman from 2008-2009.

St. Louis Funding Expanded for Ferguson Affected Businesses
Leaders of the St. Louis Development Corporation and Mayor Francis G. Slay met with members of the South Grand Business Association to discuss how to help small business owners affected by protests. A total of $1M in initial funding has been raised through public and private contributions.

$545M in Tax Credits Being Used to Revive Kansas City
The Kansas City Star released a report that displays downtown projects totaling more than $1.7B. There have been more than $545M in state and federal historic tax credts in preservation projects that are either underway or in the works.

Solar Energy Company, Sungevity, Expands to Missouri
Sungevity, a global solar energy company, could bring almost 600 new jobs to Missouri by opening a new office in Kansas City. Department of Economic Development spokeswoman, Amy Susan, says the company could receive more than $11.8M in incentives from the state.

Buchanan Co., MO Industrial Development Authority OKs Bonds
The Buchanan Co. Industrial Development Authority approved up to $29 million in bonds to refinance a shopping center. According to St. Joseph News-Press, the funds from a community improvement district and TIF district will be used to pay off the debt.
