States Try to Make it Easier to Raise Money with Crowdfunding To date, thirteen states plus D.C. have passed laws or regulations allowing startups to use crowdfunding to raise money from investors with less red tape than companies with shareholders, according to GOVERNING. USDA Finances Broadband Expansion in Rural MN, ND and TX USDA Sec. Tom Vilsack awarded nearly $40M in loans for improved broadband service in rural parts of MN, ND and TX. The loans are being funded through USDA Rural Utilities Service's Telecommunications Infrastructure Loan Program. TEF Lands SpaceX Launch Facility in Brownsville, TX Gov. Rick Perry has announced the state is offering $2.3M from the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) to bring SpaceX's commercial rocket launch facility to Cameron County. San Benito Qualifies for Disaster Funds The Texas General Land Office recently qualified the City of San Benito for reimbursement funding from HUD for properties damaged during hurricanes Ike and Dolly, according to the Valley Morning Star. The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council also distributed $819K to the community.
