Rep. Larson Pitches $1.8T Infrastructure Bill
Rep. John Larson (D-CT) has announced that he will introduce a 10-year, $1.8 trillion infrastructure package funded by a carbon tax. The bill would also include a tax rebate to offset what would be an inevitable increase in the cost of carbon-based energy sources, and to provide transitional assistance to displaced workers in the coal industry.
Municipalities Experiencing Growing Pains with GASB 77
Several challenges exist for governments as they prepare to comply with GASB 77. The first challenge is how to interpret the broad definition of "tax abatements." The ambiguity caused by the definition has resulted in some governments scrambling to determine which incentives meet the criteria of a "tax abatement"
