Allentown NIZ Could Grow By Millions with Proposed Cigarette Tax Increase
Governor Tom Wolf's new budget could allow for millions of extra dollars to be put in to the Allentown Neighborhood Improvement Zone. According to The Morning Call, the extra money would come from a proposed cigarette tax increase.
$26M in NMTC Funded by City First Bank of D.C.
According to the Philadelphia Tribune, the South Philadelphia-based Center for Health and Literacy project will be funded by $26M in new markets tax credits through the City First Bank of DC. The funding will be shared with two other low income neighborhoods in both DC and Maryland.
Booze Used to Boost Development in NIZ, CRIZ
According to the Morning Call, restaurant developers can recapture 24 percent of the taxes paid on alcohol last year to pay off construction loans.
New Center to Use Foreign Dollars in Pittsburgh Region
Pittsburgh Business Times reports that a new venture utilizing the EB-5 program aims to finance a number of projects in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania Rural Made
As a part of the USDA's commitment to strengthening rural economies, a state-by-state "Made in Rural America" report has been released for each state. Each state's fact sheet highlights specific USDA investments in rural businesses, manufacturing, energy, water, and other infrastructure development.
