EPA Announces Over $270M in Brownfields Grants to Help Revitalize Communities Across the Country
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced $248 million in Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, and Cleanup grants to 190 communities to accelerate the cleanup of polluted sites across the nation. EPA also provided $22.5 million in supplemental funding to 31 high-performing Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grantees for over $270 million in brownfields funding to revitalize American communities.

Federal Tax Credits Play a Key Role in Wind and Solar ‘Mega Projects'
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act imposed new eligibility deadlines for wind and solar tax credits that have prompted a surge in project construction activity and a corresponding increase in demand for debt and equity financing. With the long-term outlook for wind and solar tax credits dimming, lenders and investors are exploring other technologies—including nuclear, geothermal and other emerging energy sources—that will remain eligible for federal tax credits.

IRS Issues Transitional Guidance on Qualified Opportunity Zones Under the OBBBA
The IRS recently released Notice 2026-40 (the "Notice"), which provides important interim guidance for investors, fund sponsors, qualified opportunity funds (QOFs), and qualified opportunity zone businesses (QOZBs) navigating the changes made to the Opportunity Zone incentive by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), enacted in July 2025. The Notice previews the rules that Treasury and the IRS intend to include in forthcoming Treasury regulations, and taxpayers may rely on it in the meantime.

Senate Passes 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to Boost Affordability, Restrain Investors
The bipartisan measure would bar institutional investors from buying more than 350 single-family homes. The Senate voted 85-5 across party lines in favor of the bill, which is the first major piece of housing legislation since the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. The bill now heads to the House, where passage is expected.
