Treasury Releases Guidance on OZ 2.0 Census Track Nomination Process
The Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service issued guidance to the Chief Executive Officers of any State, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories regarding the procedure for nominating population census tracts to be designated as qualified opportunity zones (QOZs) under the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. This guidance officially identifies eligible census tracts under Opportunity Zones 2.0.

Three Programs in the Federal Housing Bill that Could Have a 'Big Impact' on Affordability
The future of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act remains uncertain, having stalled in the House, but housing advocates say many of its pieces are worth fighting for. Through a series of smaller efforts, such as solidifying disaster recovery programs, funding low-income home repairs, and keeping rural housing affordable, the legislation has the potential to improve the nation's housing infrastructure.
NOFO: U.S. Department of Transportation Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP)
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD) announced $488,628,000 in funding to restore American maritime dominance and revitalize American ports, shipyards and maritime capabilities. Funds for the PIDP are awarded on a competitive basis to projects that improve the safety, efficiency, or reliability of the movement of goods into, out of, around, or within a port. Applications must be submitted to Grants.gov by 11:59:59 PM. E.D.T. on June 1, 2026.

Citi Launches $60B Housing Initiative
Citi has announced a $60 billion, five-year initiative to support housing affordability, with a goal of creating or preserving at least 250,000 units nationwide. In addition, Citi Foundation will deploy another $50 million in philanthropic grants to nonprofits addressing housing challenges and supporting the financial health of residents in their communities.
Department of Labor Announces $76M to Advance Employment Readiness for American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians
The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of approximately $76 million in funding to support American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian adults and youth develop academic, occupational, and literacy skills. The grants also help individuals become more competitive in the workforce and equip them with entrepreneurial skills needed for successful self-employment. Applications must be submitted electronically by 11:59 PM Eastern on May 22, 2026.
