West Eugene, OR Enterprise Zone Extension Approved
The Eugene City Council has voted to extend the West Eugene Enterprise Zone for another decade. The Zone is a 7.5 square mile area in West Eugene where companies can apply for a property tax exemption
John Day, OR Firehouse Nears Completion
John Day's new firehouse will have six bays, allowing the facility to hold additional trucks. The project was financed through a $1.2 million bond deal, in addition to $470,170 in grant funds.
Lane Co. Projects Vie for OR DOT Funding
Five Lane County proposals are among the finalized list of applicants for $45 million in Oregon Department of Transportation money for projects statewide. The largest grant applications is Lane Transit District's request for $3.5 million to fund its $8.1 million, five-bay bus station.
Port of Morrow Donations Spur Development
The Port of Morrow donated several acres of land to projects in Boardman and Morrow Co., resulting in the development of a new recreation center and a new community college. The projects are being financed through a $23 million bond measure.
Metro, Clackamas County, & Oregon City Receive EPA Grant
A $600,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will enable Metro, Clackamas County and Oregon City to identify and prepare cleanup plans for polluted "brownfield" sites along a 9-mile stretch of McLoughlin Boulevard.
DFAs in OR, OH, NE Argue Against IRS Rule Change
Port authorities in Ohio and Oregon, along with Nebraska's Municipal Energy Agency, are fighting proposed IRS rule changes that will affect their abilities to issue bonds. The proposed regulations would require political subdivisions to serve a governmental purpose, and only incidental private benefit.
OR Panel Sees $1B Per Year Road Funding Gap
Oregon must invest an additional $964 million per year over the next 20 years to maintain its existing road system and upgrade infrastructure to withstand a major earthquake, according to a blue-ribbon panel studying its transportation strategies.
