EPA Awards $300K from Brownfields RLF to Atlanta, GA
Atlanta, Georgia will receive a brownfields revolving loan fund grant totaling $300,000. This is in addition to the more than $1.7 million in grant funding for community-wide Brownfields assessment activities and cleanup planning that seven communities in Georgia were selected to receive.
TX Bill Will Create RLF for Port Improvements
The bill will authorize a RLF for ship channel improvement projects that have been authorized by Congress. Such projects are expensive, and they generally require a port authority or state agency to pay 35 to 50 percent of the costs, according to a report from the Senate Select Committee on Texas Ports.
Two ME RLFs Receive $1.1M to Support Brownfields
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected 2 existing Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund recipients in Maine to receive a total of approximately $1.1 million in supplemental funding. The support will help the entities continue their work cleaning up contaminated brownfield properties.
Southwest CO Receives Grant Money for RLF
Businesses in Southwest Colorado will be eligible for $300,000 in federal grants, Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colorado, said in a release. The grant will be matched by Region 9, resulting in a total of $600,000 for new rural businesses.
Albany, GA, Museum of Art Moving Downtown with RLF Funds
Albany, GA, City Commissioners voted to provide funding needed to move the storm damaged Albany Museum of Art (AMA) downtown. City leaders approved a one million-dollar deferred loan to the museum which will come from the Downtown Development Revolving Loan Fund.
$700K RLF Loan Supports South Bend Indoor Farming
The vertical farming facility would be a place where green leafy vegetables would be grown year-round, under artificial light, and carefully controlled conditions. The proposed indoor growing facility would stand a story and a half tall and be window-less. Members of South Bend's Industrial Revolving Loan Fund Board have tentatively approved a $700,000 loan for the project.
RLFs May Support New Theater for Ohio Community
Neighborhood Development Services plans to renovate Paul's Do-It Center at 129 N. Chestnut St. into a 20,000-square-foot, seven-screen multiplex. Their efforts are being supported by a $500,000 dollar RLF commitment from the Portage County commissioners.
Elyria, OH Finding Few Takers for Small Business Revolving Loan Program
A revolving loan program for small businesses city officials started in 2014 with Community Development Block Grant funds has a problem: No one wants the city's money. Just one company has used the program since its inception.
