Solar Leases Could Conflict With Key Tax Break for Some MI Farmers
As interest grows in developing Michigan agricultural land for solar energy, some farmers may have to choose between keeping tax incentives for preserving farmland or leasing their property to solar developers.
Over $2M Announced for MI Biomedical Innovations
From an innovative coating for joint replacements, to a promising drug for the painful inflammatory disease scleroderma, 11 new biomedical ideas that emerged from research across Michigan have just gotten funding that could help them make the leap from lab to patient care.
ABM and Heller Machine Tools Secure Largest PACE Investment in MI
ABM announced an agreement to implement the largest PACE-financed project in Michigan for Heller Machine Tools. Financing will provide energy efficiency upgrades to the company's U.S. headquarters in Troy, Michigan and is guaranteed to save more than $1.6 million in energy and operating costs.
$11M Brownfield Financing Supports Stryker Expansion
Stryker Corp. plans to build a $130 million corporate campus on nearly 300 acres in Portage, creating an estimated 105 new jobs over three years. The $11M will be provided to clean a portion of the land which contains contaminated soil and water.
P3 Will Support Conversion of GM Foundry to Park
Land along the Saginaw River that once housed a General Motors Corp. foundry and landfill soon will find new uses that could include fishing, hiking and biking. Michigan's Department of Natural Resources plans to buy 334 acres of former GM property from RACER Trust for $10 to turn it into an urban park.
$570K City Loan Supports Heritage Tower Cleanup
Battle Creek city commissioners have approved a $570,000 loan to assist with cleaning up hazardous materials at Heritage Tower. It is being paid out of a revolving loan fund to the city by the U.S. EPA and being provided through the Battle Creek Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.
NMTC Coalition Urges Supporters to Sign Letter
The NMTC Coalition is sending a letter to Congress urging leadership to protect the New Market Tax Credit. Please consider signing their letter if you support this important development tool.
