CDFA Releases 2017 Policy Agenda
CDFA is proud to release its 2017 Policy Agenda. Our agenda outlines numerous recommendations to some of the nation's most difficult development finance issues, and we hope that Congress and the Administration will use our recommendations as a roadmap to improvements in these areas. Grow a Farmer Loan Fund Launched in MN
The Grow a Farmer Fund is a revolving-loan fund managed by Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation that offers lower-interest loans up to $15,000 to individuals in SMIF's 20-county region for inventory, supplies, working capital or machinery/equipment.
DEED Awards $5.7M for Site Assessment and Remediation
The 15 projects supported by this funding are projected to create or retain 1,400 jobs. DEED cleanup grants, which are awarded twice a year, account for about 75 percent of funding used for reclaiming polluted sites and brownfields statewide.
Dayton Announces $350M in Federal Funds for Water Quality
Minnesota has secured $350 million in federal funding for a voluntary program to pay farmers to protect and improve water quality in southern and western Minnesota, but the state needs to come up with about $95 million more to get the full amount.
NMTC Coalition Urges Supporters to Sign Letter
The NMTC Coalition is sending a letter to Congress urging leadership to protect the New Market Tax Credit. Please consider signing their letter if you support this important development tool.
MN Sees Fewest Venture Capital Deals in 12 Years
For the year in the state, there were 23 venture capital deals, raising $339.4 million. It was the lowest number of such deals since 2005, which saw only 20 deals, and the lowest amount raised since the $267.9 million from 39 deals in 2013.
Former Fridley Weapons Plant Receives $1M Grant for Cleanup
A $1 million grant will be used to clean up polluted soils and prepare a site for two industrial buildings at Northern Stacks. The project, now in its final phase, has received about $2 million in such grants for its earlier phases.
Five Central MN Projects Get Broadband Grants
The statewide grant includes around $1.9 million to increase internet access to thousands of households and businesses in central Minnesota. In total, $34 million is being allocated from the state's general fund resources to fund 42 projects statewide.
