WI Adopts Changes to Business Tax Incentive Programs
The Business Development Tax Credit enacted is designed as a refundable income tax incentive program available to eligible businesses that operate in Wisconsin. According to Mondaq, the credit will be awarded by the WEDC on a case-by-case basis based on the level of capital investment, the number of jobs created and/or retained, project location, and the strategic importance of the business.
WHEFA Bond Financing Helps Eastcastle Place, Inc. Refinance
According to WHEFA, bond financing was used to help Eastcastle Place refinance bonds and finance costs associated with certain capital improvements, including renovating and upgrading several floors. The tax exempt financing process has enabled the borrower to operate more effectively by refinancing its capital expenses at a lower interest rate.
La Crosse, WI Looks to Set up New TIF District for Ramp
The City of La Crosse is forming a new tax increment district to finance construction of a municipal parking ramp. According to La Crosse Tribune, the district would have a 15-year period for expenditures and close out in 20 years, with an option for an additional three years.
Group That Sued Eau Claire over Confluence Hit with Legal Bill
According to the Leader-Telegram, the lawsuit alleged that Eau Claire improperly expanded downtown tax increment financing districts to provide $10.9 million in contributions to Confluence Project's planned downtown community arts center and the mixed-use building.
State Awards Grant for Tribune Building
Officials announced $472,000 to help pay for renovations to convert the Tribune Center into a state-of-the-art community center. According to Wisconsin Rapids Tribune, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation awarded the grant through its community development program, which is aimed at revitalizing downtown areas.
