Kasich Rejects Bond Issue to Battle Algae Blooms in Lake Erie
Gov. Kasich said he doesn't think it is necessary to ask voters to borrow money to tackle algae blooms on Lake Erie like the one that briefly choked off Toledo's drinking water last year.
TIF Created to Help Revitalize Timkin Plant Site in Columbus, OH
The City of Columbus has created a TIF district on pieces of land near the old Timkin plant site, reports WCBE. The $7.1 million package of public subsidies will be used to build a nearly $37 million manufacturing and warehouse facility.
Grandin Properties to Celebrate $2M Hogan Building Restoration
Roughly two years ago UrbanCincy reported that Grandin Properties had been awarded nearly $400,000 in historic tax credits from ODSA. On Tuesday, neighborhood leaders intend to celebrate a ribbon cutting for the $2 million project.
Port Authority Is Picking up Steam after Productive 2015
The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority is spending $8 million to upgrade the infrastructure on the lakefront docks after increasing the number of monthly round trips from nine in 2014 by ships to 24 in 2015.
JobsOhio Touts Growth in Foreign Investment
According to Dayton Business Journal, foreign businesses and investors spent $2.1 billion to acquire, establish, or expand in Ohio in 2014. Attracting investment by non-U.S. companies is important to economic development officials because those projects tend to be longer-term.
