Englewood CO Going Small With Sharper Economic Development Focus
The city of Englewood lost a marquee company and hundreds of jobs when Sports Authority shuttered its corporate headquarters last summer. But at roughly the same time members in the city's economic development staff were hard at work turning the focus on emerging small businesses.
Denver Firm Launches $20M Fund for Small Business in Low Income Areas
Greenline Ventures LLC says it plans to target small businesses in low-income communities with a new $20 million financing fund. The loans will be focused on job creation or retention and will be targeted to minority or women-owned businesses.
Colorado Springs Sports Center may not be Feasible
Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said that the venue would need about $28 million in local public financing to help build it. Suthers said he wouldn't rule out the facility from being built, but he can't support paying for it with local public money.
Smucker Could Receive up to $10.6M Incentives from CO
The incentive packages would be from the state of Colorado, Weld County, and the city of Longmont. The project is contingent on the approval of the tax and business incentives that range from cash payments to fee and tax rebates and are tied to the number of jobs created and wage requirements.

Bill Introduced to Support Renewable Energy on Public Lands
The Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act, introduced in the US House, would streamline the permitting process for wind, solar and geothermal development on public lands and establish a process for revenue sharing.
