Grassroots Effort Brings High-Speed Broadband to Rural MN
Today, in a sparsely populated swath of Minnesota, a grassroots, member-owned cooperative spanning more than 700 square miles and four counties is poised to expand high-speed broadband access—without relying on federal funding.

MN Legislature Provides $35M for Broadband Investments
Broadband is a great equalizer for economic competitiveness and quality of life in Greater Minnesota. The 2016 legislature recognized this fact and invested an additional $35 million in the grant program, with a renewed focus on improving connectivity in both unserved and underserved parts of the state

‘Value of Solar' Gains Another Foothold in MN
Minnesota is the first state in the nation to adopt a "value of solar" approach for determining how community solar customers will be paid for the power the projects produce. The state's Public Utilities Commission agreed to use the value of solar methodology as part of a ruling on changes proposed to the state's community solar garden program.

DEED Awards Grants for Contamination Cleanup
DEED awarded $5.8 million from its Contamination Cleanup and Investigation Grant Program for 15 projects in the state. The funding will help pay for cleaning up or investigating pollution on those sites. Housing, office and retail space, as well as a professional soccer stadium and grocery store are among the projects planned.

How the Army Corps of Engineers Is Entering the P3 Market
A $2 billion flood diversion project aimed at preventing future natural disasters in North Dakota and Minnesota will be the first public-private partnership for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
