P3 Bill Signals New Infrastructure Path for NJ
Governor Phil Murphy has signed a bipartisan bill that enables local governments, school districts, public authorities and state colleges to enter into P3s for capital projects. P3 opportunities in New Jersey previously only applied to public colleges and universities.
$500M Fund Launched for Colorado Clean-Energy Program Financing
Lever Energy Capital, a Denver-based Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financier, has launched, in partnership with Fort Worth, TX-based Crescent Real Estate, a venture to originate $500 million in sustainable commercial real estate financing.
Newport, TN Approves Utilities Bond Issue up to $22.5M
Members of the Newport City Council have approved the issuance of up to $22.5 million in revenue bond anticipation notes for Newport Utilities. The bonds will be used to fund a project offering a fiber Internet and TV service to all of the utility's customers.
Industry Leaders Leverage EDA Funds to Support Early-Stage Companies
The EDA's $7.15 million limited partnership investment in the $70 million Tech Council Ventures fund resulted in a public/private leverage multiplier of 51.76 times the total $370 million of third-party partner capital into New Jersey-based businesses. The 24 New Jersey companies that benefited have generated an estimated 1,983 jobs in the State.
In Opportunity Zones, Good Things Come to Those Who Hustle
While it's clear that Opportunity Zone communities are in dire need of investment to help fuel their revitalization, there is no guarantee that investors will materialize. State and local leaders need to quickly implement policies to make their zones more attractive to investors.
Rochester, NH Approves $2.43M More in TIF
Rochester, NY and the developer of The Ridge Marketplace have reached an agreement in which the city will bond another $2.43 million to aid the construction of the Exit 15 plaza's second phase. The agreement between the city and developer Waterstone Retail brings the city's total bonded amount to $7.43 million.
Water Districts, Communities Encouraged to Apply for USDA Loans
Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development Anne Hazlett recently announced a major commitment by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to upgrade and rebuild rural water infrastructure. Eligible rural communities and water districts can apply online for funding to maintain, modernize or build water and wastewater systems.
PA Provides $150K Tax Credit to Scranton Building
A renovation of the former Samter's building into apartments and retail space received a $150,000 historic preservation tax credit from the state. The award is among 21 projects statewide receiving a total of $3 million in historic preservation tax credits for the 2017-18 fiscal year.
