FHLBank Awards $1M in Grants for Economic Development and Housing
Through the Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development (AHEAD), the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco announced $1 million in grants. According to Nasdaq, the grants will be used by nonprofit organizations in Arizona, California, and Nevada to finance a variety of start-up costs to foster economic development and promote community stability and self-sufficiency.

New Financing Option for Small to Mid-sized Businesses
Existing small- and mid-sized businesses that are unable to raise working capital or supply chain financing through traditional banking venues can now apply with The Credit Junction, a Tuscon-based lending institution for loans that are designed to help drive small business growth while expanding job creation in Arizona. According to Benson News, the program offers bridge financing between $200,000 and $2 million.

Flagstaff to Administer Federal Small Business Loan Program
Flagstaff City Council approved a request from the Northern Arizona Council of Governments to take over administration of a $217,000 U.S. Economic Development Administration grant for revolving small business loans. According to AZ Daily Sun, the loans are designed to target start-up companies in the healthcare, software, aviation, transportation, research, renewable, workforce development, and tourism industries.

Phoenix Voters Approve $31.7B Transportation Plan
A $31.7 million, 35-year transportation plan that will fund a light rail system along with more buses and city street upgrades has been approved. According to the Bond Buyer, the plan is supported by an increased and extended sales tax expected to generate $17.3 billion. Other funding is expected to come from transit fares, Federal Transit Administration grants, regional transportation funds, and bond proceeds.

WIFA Announces $550,000 Loan Closing for City of Somerton
The Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) of Arizona announced that it has closed a $550,000 loan for the City of Somerton to acquire a water system east of Somerton's municipal water service area. With the acquisition, the City of Somerton will manage operations of the water system, improve existing facilities, and invest in new infrastructure to ensure safe drinking water for its residents.
