CDFA Agenda Includes Pushing for Bond Bills, Supporting Tax Exemption
The Council of Development Finance Agencies this year will work to obtain separate bills that would ease certain tax restrictions for manufacturing bonds and remove water and sewer bonds from the private activity bond volume cap.
Preserving the Past while Building the Future in Philadelphia
In the six years since Philadelphia began to slowly reverse decades of population loss, the city has seen its share of real estate development controversies. Most of these—involving questions of gentrification, tax abatements, and density—would be familiar in any number of U.S. cities that have undergone a resurgence in the past few years. But lately, discussions about the preservation and demolition of the city's thousands of historic properties have been particularly pitched.
Bill Introduced to Support Renewable Energy on Public Lands
U.S. Congressmen Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Jared Polis (D-CO), Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Mike Thompson (D-CA), introduced bipartisan legislation, the Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act of 2017, which aims to streamline the permitting process for wind, solar and geothermal development on public lands and establishes a revenue sharing mechanism that ensures a fair return for relevant parties.
FCLF Provides NMTC for SW FL Regional Technology Hub
Florida Community Loan Fund recently closed its latest New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) project: the $10 million Southwest Florida Regional Technology Hub, located in Ft. Myers, Florida.

During his confirmation hearing, Steve Mnuchin said he'd work to improve private activity bonds, following a line of questioning from Sen. Brown (D-OH). Sen. Brown introduced MAMBA in the US Senate in 2016.
P3 Will Support Conversion of GM Foundry to Park
Land along the Saginaw River that once housed a General Motors Corp. foundry and landfill soon will find new uses that could include fishing, hiking and biking. Michigan's Department of Natural Resources plans to buy 334 acres of former GM property from RACER Trust for $10 to turn it into an urban park.
