The City of Omaha Planning Board approved tax-increment financing for four new developments in older Omaha neighborhoods, according to omaha.com. The projects are planned for Aksarben, Dundee, north downtown and 13th Street south of downtown.

Leader-Telegram reports despite a history of TIFs, the city has never adopted a formal policy regarding when and where to issue TIF districts, instead using a set of guidelines for making those decisions. Prompted in part by the increased use of TIFs downtown, city officials have discussed in recent months adopting such a policy.

Under a proposal from Waco city staff, the TIF board would approve enough money for developers to rebuild the entire block of sidewalks that are connections among the "islands" of activity in downtown, including RiverSquare Center, Austin Avenue and the area around Magnolia Market, according to Wacotrib.com.
