City May Spend $2.2M on Long-Dormant Savannah River Landing Development
The Savannah City Council will consider authorizing the use of almost $2.2 million for some infrastructure improvements at the Savannah River Landing that will be completed by the property's owner, MMA/PSP Savannah River, LLC.
East Point Breaks Ground on $13M Apartments, Shops
On a 2.2-acre parcel formerly occupied by Abundant Life Auto Sales, an apartment development estimated to cost $13.4 million will have 67 apartments of varying rents and sizes on four floors. There will be a rooftop garden with a view of the Atlanta skyline and the structure will conform to the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards.
Peachtree City to Spend $365K Per Year on LED Street Lights
City Manager Jon Rorie told the City Council recently that statewide, Georgia Power is replacing conventional yellow bulbs with more energy-efficient (and brighter) white LED bulbs. The changeover may occur in Peachtree City later this year.

The USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture announced four grants totaling more than $13.6 million to combat citrus greening disease, aka Huanglongbing. The funding is made possible through NIFA's Specialty Crop Research Initiative Citrus Disease Research and Extension Program.
