Equitable Facilities Fund Launches $120M RLF for Charter Schools
The Equitable Facilities Fund is launching the Equitable School Revolving Fund to support charter schools. The fund received a $200 million grant from the Walton Family foundation to start making loans, and plans to issue about $110 million bonds through the Arizona Industrial Development Authority and the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank.
Las Vegas, NV Approves $22M in PABs for $94.5M Affordable Housing Project
One of the largest affordable housing projects in Nevada history is coming to Las Vegas, funded in part by private activity bonds and local affordable housing developers. The Las Vegas City Council has approved two resolutions directing the state to provide $22.68 million in private activity bonds for a 480-unit, majority-affordable, mixed-use housing project.
White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council Visits Acadiana, LA
Officials from the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council toured Lafayette as part of a visit organized with the Acadiana Planning Commission. The group toured parts of the seven census tracks, home to some 29,000 people in Lafayette, that have been designated as Opportunity Zones.
MA SRF Supports $12M Water Filtration Project in Hyannis
The Hyannis Water System has begun work on a new $12 million water filtration building at the Maher Water Treatment Plant off Old Yarmouth Road. The project is being financed through the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection's State Revolving Fund Drinking Water Program.
Sen. Murkowski Introduces Bill to Help Develop Local Energy Infrastructure
U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, has introduced legislation to improve access to the Department of Energy's Section 1703 loan guarantee program. The bill would allow certain state financing entities to be fully eligible for the program, providing a new pathway for states to secure financing for projects that will reduce energy costs and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
NM Economic Development Department Creates OZ Hub Website, Will Host OZ Forum
New Mexico Economic Development Department recently announced the creation of an OZ Hub website. The Hub hosts resources for business, communities, investors, and partners. Also, the New Mexico OZ Forum is happening August 27 in Albuquerque at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. You can attend as a participant or you can have a table to exhibit your relevant organization, free of charge.
Groundbreaking $31M Revitalization of Bennington's Putnam Block
The Bennington Redevelopment Group (BRG) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on the $31 million revitalization of Phase I of the historic Putnam Block in downtown Bennington. Phase I will transform three historic buildings at the Four Corners in Bennington into a vibrant urban hub.
Municipal Bond Market Support Act Would Expand Availability of BQ Bonds
The Municipal Bond Market Support Act of 2019 would modernize a restriction on bank-qualified municipal bonds that effectively limits small governments' access to cheaper borrowing rates in the municipal market. Reps Terri Sewell and Tom Reed are the bill sponsors, and want to push the cap up to $30 million.

San Francisco International Airport to Price $1.2B in Revenue Bonds
The San Francisco International Airport plans to price $1.2 billion in revenue bonds. The proceeds will help fund Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 improvements that are part of a $7.6 billion capital plan that includes 66 projects, according to bond documents.
OH Law that Will Subsidize Two Power Plants Stabilizes FirstEnergy Bonds
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed the legislation that allows the replacement of a ratepayer surcharge for renewable power with one that subsidizes two nuclear generation facilities operated by bankrupt FirstEnergy Solutions. The anticipated $150 million to be given every year to FirstEnergy Solutions to subsidize its nuclear power plants has bolstered the company's bonds.
