DCI and DURA Team up for Vibrant Downtowns Event
"In the Game" is a multi-day event featuring smart people, pioneering research, powerful ideas and placed-based strategies designed to make Colorado downtowns better. This year DCI and DURA are moving beyond the traditional "talking heads" conference. Instead, they're transforming the event into a tool to help communities solve the difficult challenges they face right now.
CO Venture Capital at $344.5M in First Quarter
Colorado companies saw an investment rebound in the past three months as local firms raised more money in one quarter than they did in the first half of last year. Altogether, 43 companies in the state raised $344.5 million during the first quarter of 2017.
CSU Launches Regional Economic Development Institute
CSU this week launched the Regional Economic Development Institute, or REDI, to focus on the economics of rural and urban areas across Colorado. The institute intends to identify and analyze economic development strategies in struggling rural and urban areas throughout the state.
CO Coal Country Turns to Solar Energy and Organic Farming
With planning help from state economic developers, Delta County Economic Development Inc. drew up its future plans in 2016. These plans include investments in solar, a food manufacturing incubator, organic food, recreation and tourism, broadband, and other investments in renewables.

Tax credits can help clean up pollution and renew communities, three experts from Buffalo and Denver told Oregon leaders and professionals during a visit to Portland last week – but it's important to think carefully as they're set up.
CO Research Facilities Continue to Have Large Impact on Economy
The 33 federally funded research facilities in Colorado contributed an estimated $2.6 billion to the state's economy in 2015 and either directly or indirectly supported more than 17,600 jobs, according to a report released by the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder.
CO May Cut Film Tax Incentives
The tax incentives Colorado uses to lure television and movie productions to the state are poised to ride off into the sunset. Colorado's lawmakers rejected a request from Gov. John Hickenlooper to set aside $3 million for film incentives as part of the draft budget bill scheduled to debut Monday.
