SCDC Receives $375,000 Grant to Help Processing Facilities
WealthWorks, a group of nonprofits and agencies, has given the South Coast Development Council and two partner organizations a $375,000 grant. According to the Umpqua Post, the grant will be used over two years to help local meat and fish producers get the facilities and equipment they need to sell their products close to home.
Innovations in Rural Broadband Delivery
According to NACo, Sherman County, OR has expanded broadband infrastructure, using the existing 911 system, to rural parts of the county. Access to broadband has allowed several at-home businesses to expand.
Oregon Proposes Crowdfunding Rules
The Portland Tribune reports that Oregon has proposed regulation of crowdfunding. The proposed rule would set a cap of $250,000 total investment and $2,500 per investor.
Judge Approves Metro's Convention Center Hotel Plan
A judge has ruled that Metro's plan to partially finance a proposed hotel near the Oregon Convention Center is legally sound. According to the Oregonian, the order gives Metro the ability to issue revenue bonds for the $212 million project.
