California Creates Infrastructure Jobs with Bipartisan Infrastructure Act Funding
The IIJA has sent California more than $16.3B in federal infrastructure funding. That includes $14B to upgrade the state's roads, bridges, rail, public transit, airports, electric vehicle charging network, ports and waterways. These record levels of state and federal funding investments have already created more than 17,000 jobs.
Developers Are Bringing Urban to One of St. Louis, MO's Biggest Suburbs
Developers are working with the city of Chesterfield, MO on what they see as an unprecedented opportunity to rebuild part of the city into a dense, mixed-use downtown unlike anything else in the St. Louis suburbs. The city and developers intend to create a walkable town center over the next four years. Projects must be approved within 10 years to qualify for TIF.
Governor Announces $850K for Kansas Entrepreneurs
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced the first round of recipients of funding from the GROWKS Loan and Equity programs, funded by the federal State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), particularly those in underserved areas, access capital in the early stages of growth. In the first round, four companies – three of which are woman-led – received a total of $850,000 in companion financing to bank loans.
DOT Infrastructure Loan Earmarks Funds for Cameron Ferry in Lake Charles, LA
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that its "Build America Bureau" has provided a total of $40.9 million in low-interest loans to the Louisiana State Bond Commission to assist in a new Cameron Parish Ferry project as well as a statewide bridge improvement program.
New Jersey Awards Annual Adult-Use Cannabis Business Permits
New Jersey regulators approved the first 18 annual adult-use cannabis business licenses for the state's marijuana market. The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission also approved 297 more conditional licenses, extended the length of time for certain conditional licensees to apply for conversion to an annual license, and increased the Social Equity Excise Fee that cultivators will pay for 2023.
USDA Announces New Resources to Empower Indigenous Food Sovereignty
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced new resources and new agreements of the USDA Indigenous Food Sovereignty Initiative, which promotes traditional food ways, Indian Country food and agriculture markets, and Indigenous health through foods tailored to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) dietary needs.
$120M Waterfront Community Permitted in East Providence, RI
East Point is the latest waterfront residential community to be built by Churchill & Banks in East Providence, RI, permitted for 392 residential units. Churchill & Banks secured financing for the project from HarborOne Bank and a tax increment financing bond for the public infrastructure was provided by the city.
