LA Task Force Must Develop Disaster Relief Spending Plan to Earn Aid
The Restore Louisiana Task Force needs to formulate a spending plan on disaster relief money before the federal government doles out additional funds for post-flood aid. The state has received $438 million in relief funding thus far, but a plan on how to allocate the funds would yield the Louisiana Congressional Delegation greater leverage on funding requests.

The vision for the Federal City site in Algiers is blurry again now that agencies overseeing the site want to walk away from the developer chosen to flesh out the rest of the 156-acre campus. FDA Awards LA $3.6M to Implement Food Safety Rule
Louisiana is one of 42 states awarded millions of dollars by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to help implement the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) produce safety rule. The rule, which the FDA finalized in November 2015, establishes science-based minimum standards for the safe growing, harvesting, packing and holding of fruits and vegetables grown for human consumption.

Entergy Provides $75K Grant for Electric Car Charging Stations in Baton Rouge
Downtown Baton Rouge now has 10 electric car charging stations as part of another push to make the city more progressive and to lure green businesses to the Capital City. Entergy has been the lead sponsor of the downtown stations, giving a $75,000 grant for the purchase and installation of the program also being pushed by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
HUD Awards $500M to LA, TX, WV Flood Areas
HUD awarded $500 million to Louisiana, Texas and West Virginia to help the states recover from flooding events earlier this year. This funding is provided through HUD's Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Program, which gives funds to assist communities experiencing the most serious damage to their housing stock.
Minden City Moves Forward with TIF District Funding
The Minden City Council on Monday took action to help pave the way for economic development and fund the city's newly created tax increment finance districts. The council approved the introduction of eight resolutions, which would allow the city to collect an additional 2 percent sales tax and an additional 2 percent occupancy tax for hotels in the four new districts.
