IL Bonds Rally After Ending Budget Impasse
Illinois bonds surged as the legislature moved closer to ending a record-long impasse over the budget, reducing the risk that the state's bond rating will be cut to junk. The rally came after the state senate overrode Governor Bruce Rauner's veto to approve tax increases and the first full-year budget in two years.

New Development May Be Coming to Franklin Park Brownfield
The developer was able to take advantage of Cook County's Brownfields Assessment Grant Cook County grant. Funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2014, the grant funds cover cost of the study of the potential contaminants and the planning phases of a site's clean up, or remediation.

IL's Budget Impasse is Over
Illinois' bruising two-year run without a state budget is over, but business leaders are left feeling they got the short end of the stick: higher taxes with virtually none of the regulatory and political changes they sought.

IL Community May Use Grant Money for RLF
The Greater Sterling Development Corp. board has discussed setting up a local revolving loan fund with money from a similar fund that was set up with federal Community Development Assistance Program grant funds.

IL Financial Challenges Remain Despite Passing of Budget
The state still has unpaid bills hovering around $15 billion, and that number could rise as more come in with the fog of the record-setting budget impasse lifting. There are cash flow issues that mean covering monthly expenses remains a challenge. And a $130 billion shortfall in government pensions has yet to be addressed.
