Excavation Begins for Detroit Red Wings Arena Project
Excavations began this week on the Detroit Red Wings Arena. According to Mlive, an estimated $284.5 million of public investment for the project is being backed by tax increment financing.
Grant Helps New Development Come to Sturgis
State Rep. Aaron Miller has announced Moso Village LLC has received a $1 million Michigan Revitalization Program grant to redevelop five parcels of land in Sturgis into a two-story building. The project will be the first significant new construction in the downtown area in half a century, according to WLKM.
Millions Sought for Traverse City Brownfields
Developers of the Federated Properties project and the Grandview Place project will bring a proposal to combine the two projects into a single plan before the Grand Traverse County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. If approved, the new plan would provide an additional $7.5 million in subsidies to the $16.5 million already approved.
MI Dept. of Talent and Economic Development Launched
A new Department of Talent and Economic Development (TED) has been officially launched. According to Economic Development HQ, TED combines MEDC, the Strategic Fund, the State Housing Development Authority, and newly created Talent Investment Agency.
