NTIA Releases Interactive Federal Funding Guide
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) released the Interactive Federal Funding Guide as an enhancement to BroadbandUSA's "one-stop" federal funding site. The Guide provides an interactive, step-by-step approach for users to filter through more than 90 broadband-related programs compiled from 12 federal agencies and the Federal Communications Commission.

Florida Community Loan Fund Awarded $35M in NMTC Allocation
Florida Community Loan Fund, a statewide nonprofit lending institution, today announced an award of $35 million in New Markets Tax Credit allocation from the U.S. Treasury Community Development Financial Institution Fund. FCLF – Florida-based and Florida-focused – will devote 100% of this award to the underserved state of Florida.

2020 NMTC Allocation Awards Announced
The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund awarded 100 Community Development Entities (CDEs) $5 billion in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) allocation authority. The allocation awards, made through the calendar year (CY) 2020 round of the NMTC Program, will help stimulate economic growth in low-income areas nationwide.

How a Colorado Coal Plant Could Become a Massive Battery for Renewable Energy
A coal-fired power plant owned by Xcel Energy in Hayden, Colorado accounts for more than half the property tax base and is a reliable source of high-paying jobs in a town with rapidly increasing housing prices. The town could soon test a new idea to meet its climate goals without losing the economic benefits of the plant. Rather than raze the building, the project would transform the power plant into a massive battery to bank electricity generated by renewable energy.

‘Solar Bond' Demand Goes Through the Roof
Investment firms are buying record amounts of 'solar bonds,' debt issued to help individuals finance rooftop solar panels to power their homes. Sales of solar bonds hit around $2 billion in the first six months of the year, roughly double levels during the same period in 2020 and 2019. The bonds are backed by bundles of loans made to homeowners for panel purchases and are being issued by a handful of financing companies that specialize in residential solar panels.

Promised Land Opportunity Zone Farms Closes $50M Financing
Promised Land Opportunity Zone Farms I, LLC has announced that it recently closed a $50 million debt financing with Conterra Agricultural Capital, LLC. The 10-year financing facility expands Promised Land's ability to stimulate economic development and promote employment across agricultural communities.

Inflows at $1.8B, Bringing Total to $71B in 2021
Municipal benchmark yield curves were little changed amid light trading and few deals pricing, but the market had a stronger tone Wednesday amid an improved U.S. Treasury market and equity losses on coronavirus fears. For the 26th week in a row, municipal bond mutual funds saw inflows of nearly $2 billion, bringing the total to $71 billion year-to-date.

Piedmont Healthcare's $1B Deal Pays for Latest Acquisitions
Georgia-based Piedmont Healthcare Inc. heads into the market with a $1 billion taxable issue that folds a bridge loan used to finance its acquisition of four hospitals from for-profit HCA Healthcare into its long-term debt portfolio. Piedmont will offer the bonds as three index-eligible bullets with $300 million due in 10 years, $300 million in 20 years, and $400 million in 30 years with corporate CUSIPs.
