Kloeckner Metals Receives Incentives for GA Expansion
Greenville County Council has unanimously approved tax incentives for German company Kloeckner Metal Corp. The project will involve an investment of approximately $11.3 million in the county and is expected to create up to 19 new, full-time jobs, the agreement states.

Invest Atlanta Approves $3M Tax Credits for Downtown Building
After sitting empty for decades and making Central Atlanta Progress's "10 Downtown Eyesores" list twice, the forlorn Medical Arts Building in downtown Atlanta is finally on the cusp of getting some love. Invest Atlanta, the city's economic development arm, approved on Thursday $3 million in tax credits from the Eastside Tax Allocation District fund for renovation of the circa-1920s building.

Invest Atlanta Using Creative Financing for Housing Development
At Invest Atlanta's monthly board meeting, Mayor Kasim Reed and members of the Invest Atlanta board approved five projects that in total would create or retain 493 units of affordable and workforce housing.

Decatur, GA, Working to Improve Bond Rating
The city of Decatur, GA, is borrowing $41 million to pay for its purchase of the United Methodist Children's Home campus, bringing the city's total debt to $182 million. The city is paying for the purchase with a low interest $11.5 million loan through the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority and $30 million in bonds.

Lawmakers Study the Impact of Tax Breaks in GA
Georgia foregoes hundreds of millions in state revenues annually through special tax breaks designed to spur economic growth and state legislators want to know if the incentives are actually working. A group of senators started work recently on evaluating the dozens of tax exemptions that legislators have approved through the years. 

Alpharetta, GA, City Council Discusses Incentives for Workforce Housing
Alpharetta is looking at workforce housing and possible incentive options that may be a fit for the city. The goals presented include reviewing demographic and market conditions, researching models for consideration, discussing possible strategies with the council and amending the city code as needed.

Grovetown, GA, to Consider Bids to Build Wastewater Treatment Plant
The project to build a new wastewater treatment plant in Grovetown, Georgia, is moving full speed ahead after being awarded a grant from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority for the $23 million needed to start construction.
