Chanute Approves Community Improvement District
Chanute's CID allows retailers to charge an additional sales tax that reimburses the developer for public improvements. The 35th Street travel plaza being developed by Love's Travel Stop and Country Store will include an extension of Blue Comet Avenue. The CID approved will include Love's Travel Stop and Country Store, an Arby's restaurant in the same building, and an adjoining Holiday Inn Express.

Developer Hopes to Utilize STAR Bond District in Goddard
Despite ceremonial groundbreaking which took place last January, a project to bring a hotel and various sport-related facilities to Goddard, KS, is facing obstacles. Among those is gaining approval to use STAR bonds to help finance the project.

OKC Convention Center Hinges on Public Financing Package of Around $85M
The Oklahoma City Council voted Tuesday to authorize negotiations with Omni Hotels and Resorts to develop a 600-room luxury hotel adjacent to the MAPS 3 convention center. Success in building the $235.5 million headquarters hotel to support the new convention center hinges on assembly of a public financing package that could total $85.4 million.

Downtown Edmond Attracts Three New Businesses
Downtown Edmond will soon have three new businesses to serve the community at both Campbell Corner and the Farmers' Grain Center.

Abilene's Nelson Park Improvements to Cost an Estimated $28.8M
Abilene's plan provides recommendations to improve the park throughout a 10-year period at an estimated cost of $28.8 million, according to city documents. It also works with the Abilene Youth Sports Authority's planned indoor sports complex, for which the organization is raising funds.

Revenue Falls Short of Projections for TIF District
A recent report shows new revenue generated by the redevelopment of a blighted area in northwest Muskogee targeted for urban renewal fell short of projected gains.

Owasso City Council Approves TIF Board for Downtown Redevelopments
The Owasso City Council approved a resolution proposed by the City of Owasso for the creation of a new board that will oversee the potential implementation of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District for the downtown area. While the City continues to carry out needed improvements as part of its downtown redevelopment efforts, a TIF initiative essentially acts as an incentive program that can provide more funding for critical projects and help spur growth and private investment in the region.
