Chanute's CID allows retailers to charge an additional sales tax that reimburses the developer for public improvements. The 35th Street travel plaza being developed by Love's Travel Stop and Country Store will include an extension of Blue Comet Avenue. The CID approved will include Love's Travel Stop and Country Store, an Arby's restaurant in the same building, and an adjoining Holiday Inn Express.
