Underutilized Tax Incentives
According to the Commercial Observer, the Research and Development Tax Credit and the Energy Efficient Commercial Building Deduction are often unknown and underutilized, leaving millions of dollars unused in the state.
Two Ways to Reduce the Cost of Housing in CA
According to California Economic Summit, state leaders are identifying a range of new revenue streams and tax credits that could expand the development of housing. The new Enhanced Infrastructure Financing Districts (EIFDs) allow local governments to bundle an array of local funding streams, including the property tax increment dollars, and reinvest those dollars in affordable housing and other infrastructure.
FHLBank Awards $1M in Grants for Economic Development and Housing
Through the Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development (AHEAD), the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco announced $1 million in grants. According to Nasdaq, the grants will be used by nonprofit organizations in Arizona, California, and Nevada to finance a variety of start-up costs to foster economic development and promote community stability and self-sufficiency.
Lodi, CA Tourism Business Improvement District Approved
The Lodi News-Sentinel reports that City Council approved a new Business Improvement District that is expected to generate about $538,000 for tourism and promotion of the City of Lodi.
PSEG Solar Source Adds Brownfield Facility
According to PRNewswire, PSEG Solar Source announced that it has acquired the Columbia Solar Project from Hanergy America Solar Solutions, which is built on a remediated brownfield. The new facility has 83,000 solar panels on a 105-acre remediated parcel located in a historically industrial zone.
