USDA Awards $2M for Facilities and Equipment in Rural Oregon
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development is awarding nearly $2.1 million in loans and grants to rural Oregon emergency response agencies for new facilities and equipment. Funding provided through USDA's Community Facilities Program can be used to construct or renovate community facilities that provide essential services in rural areas, as well as to purchase equipment.

OR State Hospital Building Redevelopment to Utilize Historic Tax Credits
One of the historical buildings at Oregon State Hospital's mostly vacant north campus could soon become affordable housing. The Housing Authority of Salem has reached a conditional sales agreement with the state to buy Yaquina Hall and convert it into up to 50 apartments. The housing authority plans to use federal low-income tax credits and historic tax credits to finance renovation and construction of the building.

USDA Awards Nearly $1.7M in Grants to OR Agricultural Producers and Small Businesses
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development is providing nearly $1.7 million to rural Oregon farmers, ranchers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs to help them develop new product lines. These awards are part of a national announcement of $45 million in investments in 325 projects through USDA's Value Added Producer Grant (VAPG) Program.

$300M of Energy Tax Credits Could Be Fraudulent
About $1 billion worth of tax credits were issued to scores of wind, solar and other renewable energy projects, and more than $300 million worth of credits have been called into question after auditors labeled scores of projects "suspicious" or "concerning."
