New TAG Truck Center in Memphis Receives Financing through NMTCs
The new TAG Truck Center will bring new life and hundreds of jobs to the property, which has remained vacant since the mall closed in 2003. Stonehenge Community Development, a subsidiary of Stonehenge Capital, partnered with SunTrust Community Capital, a subsidiary of SunTrust Banks, Inc., to provide $10 million in New Markets Tax Credits allocation for the facility's construction.

Binghamton Proposing TIF for $26M Improvement Plan
Binghamton community leaders are discussing a proposal to shrink Sam Cooper Boulevard to give residents better access to the jobs and opportunities in the Broad Avenue commercial district. The plan is to set up a TIF district in order to generate the funds for the project.

TN's IMPROVE Act Provides for Two Alcoa Highway Projects
Tennessee's Improving Manufacturing, Public Roads and Opportunities for a Vibrant Economy (IMPROVE) Act is providing for two new projects on the Alcoa Highway, with both projects set to begin in 2018. The projects, estimated to cost a combined $75 million, include improvements to a 2.5-mile section of Alcoa Highway in Knox County, and updates to a half-mile portion of the highway Blount County.

Williams Sausage Company Breaks Ground on New Factory with NMTC in TN
Stonehenge Capital and Chase recently announced an investment in the new Williams Sausage Company factory in Union City, which began construction in July. Bringing more than 200 new jobs to Union City, Tennessee, the project was financed through federal New Markets Tax Credits, which are designed to encourage private capital investment, create jobs and catalyze additional economic activity in communities that are underserved by traditional sources of capital.

TN a Hotbed for Foreign Direct Investment Due to Incentives
Tennessee was ranked No. 1 among all U.S. states for foreign direct investment (FDI) job commitments in 2015, according to the 2016 IBM Global Locations Trends report. There are approximately 926 foreign-based companies with operations in the state and foreign investments total more than $33.8 billion in capital investment.

Over 60 TN Counties Awarded Community Development Grants
TNECD has awarded $975,000 to Tennessee communities through this round of the ThreeStar Competitive Enhancement Grant program. To be eligible for these grants, communities must meet all ThreeStar program requirements. ThreeStar focuses on best practices in key community areas, including jobs and economic development; fiscal strength and efficient government; public safety; health; education and workforce development.

Riverchase Apartments, in TN, Will Stay in LIHTC Program
A new Nashville-based company has paid $11.2 million for Riverchase Apartments, one of the few remaining low-income housing complexes near downtown Nashville. The buyers of Riverchase Apartments say they don't plan to leave the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, a move that would've allowed them to charge market rates for the apartments.

August 23-24, 2017 - Murfreesboro, TN
CDFA has teamed up with the University of Tennessee's Certified Economic Developer Program to bring a new course to Murfreesboro. This one and a half day hands-on training will take a deeper dive into the economic development finance tools used to support growth and improvement through real-life case studies. The tools covered in this course will inlude PILOTs, TIF, bonds, and loan funds.
