American Rescue Plan Provides Massive Funding to Tribes for Small Business Credit Support and Investments
Tucked in Title III, Section 3301, of the American Rescue Plan Act is the resurrection of the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) program. Included in this resurrection is the addition of tribal governments to the SSBCI, with a direct appropriation of $500 million for tribal governments to begin economic recovery for tribal small businesses, including tribal-owned and tribal member-owned businesses.
HUD Makes Historic $450M Investment to Provide COVID-19 Relief Funding to Native American Communities
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge announced $450 million in Indian Housing Block Grants (IHBG) to Indian tribes across the country to respond to COVID-19. SBA to Increase Lending Limit for COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loans
The SBA is increasing the maximum amount small businesses and non-profit organizations can borrow through its COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. Starting the week of April 6, 2021, the SBA is raising the loan limit for the COVID-19 EIDL program from 6-months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $150,000 to up to 24-months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $500,000.
