Kansas to Receive $39.5M for EV Charging Infrastructure
The Kansas Department of Transportation's Charge Up Kansas NEVI Plan has been approved and is set to receive $39.5M total over the next five years under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. The plan provides KDOT with federal funds to help build a high-powered EV charging network across the state.
EPA Delivers Over $63M in Water Infrastructure Funding to Vermont
The US EPA awarded over $63M in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to Vermont for water infrastructure improvements. Planned projects in Vermont that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will fund include lead line replacement projects, as well as projects to address PFAS contamination. A host of other projects are slated for funding in the state through this new increase in funding.
Maury County, TN Receives $17M Grant for Rural Broadband Expansion
Maury County will pull in $17M from a state infrastructure grant funneled to United Telephone Company to light up the rural outskirts with high-speed internet service. This is part of a $446.7M state broadband grant program to expand internet access across 78 counties, affecting 150k unserved homes.
State of Washington Awards $16M to Strengthen Local Food System Infrastructure
The Washington State Department of Agriculture has awarded more than $16M in grants to help small farms and food businesses recover from the ongoing economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Legislators designed the Local Food System Infrastructure Grants to improve the strength and resiliency of Washington's food systems.
Beginning Farmers Tax Break Available via Minnesota Rural Finance Authority
A tax credit to beginning farmers for the sale or lease of land, equipment, machinery, and livestock is still available through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's Rural Finance Authority. Qualifying applicants can include individuals, trusts or qualified pass-through entities renting or selling land, livestock, facilities, buildings or machinery used for farming in Minnesota to a beginning farmer.
Bonneville, MO City Council Moves Forward with New TIF District
The Bonne Terre City Council gave the green light to proceed with forming a TIF district to revamp the mostly-vacant, 50-year-old Bonneville Plaza strip mall, and heard about various infrastructural initiatives and grant applications that would benefit the city. A Community Development Block Grant project is paying for a number of paving projects around town.
Lawrence County, PA to Receive $1.2M for Small Business Loan Program
The Lawrence County Economic Development Corp. will receive $1,122,500 to capitalize a state Small Business Credit Initiative revolving loan fund program. A portion will be allocated to socially and economically disadvantaged individuals as well as to businesses with fewer than 10 employees.
SLDC Releases Roadmap to Economic Justice with $250M Already Earmarked
The St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC) released its "Roadmap to Economic Justice" plan in April 2022. In the days preceding the publication of the plan, Mayor Jones announced a commitment of $150 million in ARPA funds to North St. Louis while another $96 million has already been planned for the predominantly Black northside.
