Voters Approve SPLOST in GA for Another Six Years Millions of dollars will be coming into Milledgeville and Baldwin County in GA for the next six years after city and county residents voted to approve the continuation of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). The special penny sales tax on every dollar is expected to generate between $38 million and $40 million in revenue sales tax to the city and county over that time. Atlanta City Council Approves Bonds for Zoo Parking The Atlanta City Council voted Monday to issue $32.6 million in bonds to finance a 1,000-space, semi-underground parking garage in Grant Park next to Zoo Atlanta. Georgia Gov. Deal, Speaker David Ralston: Film Tax Credit Here to Stay The tax incentives that have lured a steady and growing stream of movie and television projects to Georgia are here to stay as long as Gov. Nathan Deal and Speaker David Ralston have anything to say about it. Atlanta OKs $40M Affordable Housing Bond The Atlanta City Council voted to approve $40 million for housing programs. The city will borrow the money from Wall Street through bonds. SEDA Awards Engineering Contract on New Manufacturing Park New 685-acre manufacturing park on Old River Road in west Chatham County property was made possible through the county's one-cent special purpose local option sales tax, or SPLOST VI. GA House Supports Tax Credits for Video Game Companies Entertainment companies that develop films and video games and complete postproduction work in Georgia could be eligible for tax credits under legislation the House recently approved. Nuclear Projects Utilizing Millions in Tax Credits Nuclear projects in South Carolina and Georgia are racing to completion because new nuclear plants must be operational by Dec. 31, 2020, to qualify for millions of dollars in federal subsidies via nuclear production tax credits. Johnson Park Undergoing $330K in Renovations Johnson Park Recreation Center at 1781 Ebenezer Road in Conyers is undergoing $330,292 worth of renovations, which is funded through 2011 SPLOST dollars.
