Endorse the Build to Scale Reauthorization Act of 2026
In the coming weeks, Reps. Haley Stevens (D-MI) and Jim Baird (R-IN) will introduce the bipartisan Build to Scale Reauthorization Act of 2026. B2S, managed by the EDA, is the federal government's largest, most flexible pool of annual funding designed specifically for regionally designed innovation initiatives. Learn how to support this bipartisan legislation today.
Johns Hopkins and Bloomberg Philanthropies Announced Love Your Block Grant Program
The Love Your Block Program includes a two-year $270,000 grant for program implementation and staffing, focused on resident engagement, impact volunteering, and project management. This program includes the mini-grant competition, which serves as both a funding mechanism and an engagement tool by awarding $1,500–$5,000 in seed funding to residents and community partners to lead volunteer-driven neighborhood projects. Applications open through June 1, 2026.
NOFO: Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant Program
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant Program is offering grants of up to $20 million to support pre-disaster mitigation activities that reduce disaster losses, protect life and property from future disaster damages, and increase community resilience to natural hazards. The deadline to submit applications is July 23, 2026.
NOFO: Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization (NGDISM) Grant Program
The NGDISM Grant program provides close to $1B in grant funding over five years, to improve the safety and efficiency of high-risk, actively leaking, or leak-prone natural gas distribution infrastructure. Grant funding may be used to repair, rehabilitate, or replace existing gas distribution pipeline infrastructure. Grantees may also acquire equipment intended to reduce incidents and fatalities and avoid economic losses. This is the final year of the program, with applications due May 22, 2026.
NOFO: Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) established the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) competitive grant program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over 5 years, 2022-2026. The SS4A program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries. Approximately $1 billion is still available for the next funding round, with applications due May 26, 2026.
FEMA Approves More Than $41.5M to Support Mitigation Projects in the Southeast
FEMA announced more than $41.5 million in funding to Florida, Georgia and South Carolina for long-term projects that will make local communities more resilient to disasters. These awards are from FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, which empowers states, local governments, tribal nations and territories to complete activities and projects that prevent, eliminate, or reduce disaster-related damage.
Treasury Puts CDFIs Under New Scrutiny Amid Push To Cut Fund By Two-Thirds
The Treasury Department said it has launched a review of certified Community Development Financial Institutions to look for potential violations of law or CDFI program requirements, signaling a new oversight push as the Trump Administration simultaneously seeks to sharply reduce funding for the CDFI Fund.

U.S. Transportation Department Secretary Duffy announced a $1.1B investment into improving safety infrastructure at railroad crossings to save American lives. The Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program or Crossing Safety Program focuses on crossing projects that improve the safety and mobility of people and goods, eliminate railroad crossings that are frequently blocked by trains, and educate communities on railroad crossings to save lives.
