King County Invests $87M in Workforce Housing Around Transit Stations
More than 1,000 units of affordable workforce housing will be created over the next five years around Sound Transit and King County Metro transit stations, with up to $87 million from the sale of bonds backed by future lodging tax revenues.
Awards Finance 900 Units of Affordable Housing Statewide
The Washington State Housing Finance Commission recently approved more than $216 million in financing to construct or preserve almost 900 units of affordable housing, most of them for seniors.
State Grants $9.7M to Increase Access to Capital for Energy Projects
The Washington State Department of Commerce has committed $9.7 million from the state's Clean Energy Fund to three non-profit lending institutions: Craft3, Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union (PSCCU), and the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.
Small Banks Use Muni Debt to Bond with Communities
First Financial Northwest in Renton, Washington, jumped at a chance to have a stronger bond with its hometown. When officials in Renton recently floated a bond issue to fund improvements to city schools, the $939 million-asset First Financial was an eager participant, buying $500,000 of notes.
SEC Fine Seattle Developer $1.2M over EB-5 Fundraising
Henry Leibman, one of Seattle's top developers and a pioneer in using the EB-5 visa program to raise capital, has been fined more than $1.2 million for using unlicensed advisers to steer investments from would-be immigrants into his projects.
