MN Governor Proposes $1.5B Bonding Bill
Calling their plan a "jobs bill," they contend it will create about 22,950 positions. Included in their recommendation is a significant upgrade to the city of Duluth's downtown steam heating system and various other infrastructure improvements.
MDA Grants Fund Specialty Crop Projects
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has awarded $1 million in grant funding to specialty crop growers in the state. Specialty crops include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, and horticultural and nursery crops.
Rochester Approves Alatus Project and $10.5M TIF
Council members agreed their concerns related to the project had been met and there were many benefits to look forward to when the project was complete. The public realm improvements were deemed to be deserving of the $10.5 million in approved tax increment financing.
Albert Lea Approves Finance Program for Building Repairs
The program, which would include a 1-to-1 ratio of public to private funds up to $10,000, would provide assistance to owners of commercial property on South Broadway Avenue from College Street to Todd Avenue.
Governor's Task Force on Broadband Releases Annual Report
The recommendations include $100 million in ongoing funding for the Border-to-Border Broadband Grand Development Program and $10 million in operating funds for the Office of Broadband Development with the goal of providing broadband access to every Minnesotan.
Duluth, MN Creates Brownfield RLF
The city of Duluth has received a $650,000 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant that will fund loans to remediate brownfield properties. Loans up to $200,000 per project will be available.
