CHFA's 2014 Community Report highlights CHFA's achievements in 2014 across all three lines of business, in addition to community engagement efforts and programs celebrating CHFA's 40th anniversary. CO Grocery Store Gets Upgrades
On the verge of closing, the only grocery store in Limon, CO was awarded $100,000 for upgrades through the Colorado Fresh Food Financing Fund. According to 9 News, the fund is designed to create jobs and improve access to healthy food in underserved Colorado by financing grocery stores and other forms of food retail.
CHFA Announces Low Income Housing Tax Credit Awards
Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) has announced the final Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) allocation of 2015. According to CHFA, leveraging state LIHTC with federal LIHTC has made a huge impact in their ability to support the development and preservation of affordable rental housing across the state.
CO Energy Office Awards $1.2M Funding to GRID Alternatives
The Colorado Energy Office awarded $1.2 million in grant funding to GRID Alternatives, a nonprofit organization, to implement a solar demonstration project that focuses on the state's low-income electric energy burden, making solar more accessible and affordable.
CO Working to Solve Broadband Issues
The need for high-speed internet throughout many counties has been a crucial component to economic development in the state. According to Steam Boat Today, Colorado law prohibits local government from being involved in the delivery of telecom services. To remedy the lack of infrastructure development, other rural areas across Colorado have voted on and passed overrides of the law, allowing them to regain local control.
