SC Businesses Utilizing Tax Credits
Companies are utilizing tax credits in South Carolina as a means of growing their businesses. Two of these companies are Labon, a China-based technical fiber and textile manufacturer, and TCube Solutions, a software services firm that works with the insurance industry.
Spartanburg County Council Considering Several Economic Development Projects
The Spartanburg County Council is in the midst of discussing a number of economic development projects and initiatives in the area including Project Senator which will invest $7M and create 100 jobs.
CDFA National Summit Call for Submissions
CDFA is accepting sessions submissions for the 2017 National Development Finance Summit in Atlanta this November. Session submissions on deals, projects or programs that include multiple funding sources are highly encouraged. Submissions are due by May 12, 2017.
New SC JEDA Bonds Finance, Refinance Expansion of Tidelands Health
Tidelands Health is using a $122.94 million bond issue through the South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority (JEDA) to finance new facilities and refund bonds used for previous expansion.
SC Governor Vows to Veto State Gas Tax Increase
Gov. Henry McMaster wants to fund roadwork with a $1 billion bond package rather than back the proposal in the Senate to raise the gasoline tax by 12 cents over six years or a measure approved by the state House in early March that would raise the gasoline tax by 10 cents over five years.
Lexington, SC, County Council Denies City of Cayce TIF Request
The City of Cayce has used Tax Increment Financing to develop areas of the city for the last 20 years. But a request to continue to use the funding mechanism that keeps taxpayer money in the municipality was recently denied by Lexington County Council.
Toshiba Woes Harm Outlook for Public Power Nuke Bonds
Heightened concern about a potential Westinghouse bankruptcy filing led to negative outlooks on municipal bonds issued for new nuclear units the company is building in Georgia and South Carolina.
