CO Impact Fund Brings Message and Money
The Colorado Impact Fund is assisting start-up companies through financing. According to The Gazette, the venture capital fund was created with $62.9 million in investments to boost entrepreneurial activity in the state.
Can Denver's Billion-Dollar Stock Show Plan Save Neglected Neighborhoods?
According to the Westword, parts of Denver are seeking ways to create partnerships to rebuild parts of the city. The nonprofit, Western Stock Show Association, has pledged $50 million for redevelopment. The city has also applied to the Colorado Department of Economic Development for $16 million in Regional Tourism Act sales-tax financing over 30 years.
CHFA and DOLA Announce Disaster Recovery Funding For Affordable Housing
The Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) and the Department of Local Affairs Division of Housing announced $7.2 million in federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), $8.3 million in state LIHTC, and $24.7 million in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery funds in order to support new affordable housing in areas affected by the floods of 2013.
National Renewable Energy Laboratory Economic Impact
According to a study by the University of Colorado Boulder, the economic impact of the Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) was $872.3 million nationwide. The NREL has become in important resource in clean energy and making it available for the marketplace.
EPA Provides $500K to the City of Fort Collins
The City of Fort Collins received $500K in EPA Brownfields grant funding to clean up and redevelop the city's downtown business district. The EPA grant will allow the city transform blighted properties to boost the local economy while protecting public health and the environment.
